Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: 28 April 2026
This statement is made in line with section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, although J Potts Logistics Ltd is currently below the £36m turnover threshold for mandatory reporting. We publish it voluntarily because the issues matter and our carriers and clients expect transparency.
Our business
We're a Carlisle-based parcel & freight delivery operator with around 32 active drivers, working multi-FD volume for DPD, DX, DHL and InPost. Our drivers are typically self-employed sub-contractors with valid right-to-work documentation.
Our risks
- Driver onboarding. The largest direct risk is engaging someone whose right to work is questionable, or who has been trafficked or coerced.
- Sub-contracting. Drivers occasionally use their own vehicles or work alongside their own crews. We require visibility on anyone presenting parcels in our name.
- Suppliers. Vehicle leasing partners, fuel suppliers, and tech vendors are lower-risk but not zero-risk.
What we do
- Right-to-work checks on every driver before any rota assignment, retained on file with expiry tracking.
- Document expiry monitoring built into our ops platform — drivers can't be assigned a route if licence or insurance documents have expired.
- Sub-contractor register — every driver who carries parcels in our name is named in our sub-contractor register, with engagement type, vehicle, and contact records.
- Direct payment — we pay drivers directly via BACS, not through agencies that obscure the chain.
- Whistleblowing — if you're aware of any instance of forced labour, exploitation or trafficking related to our operations, contact admin@jpottslogistics.co.uk in confidence.
